Hunting
Onalaska offers some tremendous hunting opportunities. The Mississippi River and the expansive wetlands attract hundreds of thousands of migrating waterfowl each fall. Mallard, teal, wood duck, bluebill and canvasback are just some of the many species that pass through the area. For a fall waterfowl hunting trip, you can’t beat Onalaska.

Hunting is permitted only in designated areas on the refuge. Find maps of the Upper Mississippi National Wildlife Refuge.
Upland game hunting opportunities are also abundant in the Onalaska area. White-tailed deer, pheasant, squirrel, wild-turkey and rabbit are all available in the area. Find hunting seasons and regulations.
